Musical Comedy

For der Vorstand (the Board) fun and political committment, down-to-earthness and open-mindedness are by no means contradictions. Its roots reach from the pit waters of worked out mines in the Ruhr area and the swamps of the Mississippi delta to the brackish waters of the Niger near Timbuktu.

Founded in Essen in 1995, the trio Peter (Pid) Mertner, Thomas (Doc) Ophelders and Helmut (the white shark) Düngen present their completly own mixture of "turning on" music and German lyrics with a message. Diverse musical directions with several changing in instruments, comedy-poetry interludes, and literary cabaret contributions, the "international carneval committe show" and changing stage outfits fuse to form powerful fun-folk, and " World music from the Ruhr", that doesen´t mince words.
